About
After starting up and then running my own successful independent practice in Newcastle NSW for over 21 years, I decided it was time for a change. As of 1st May 2021 I have sold my shares and severed all financial ties to the practice, to offer my services as a full-time locum optometrist.
I had enjoyed doing locum optometry work for several years in the mid-late 1990s, mainly in Sydney, Canberra, and Newcastle but also in towns such as Nowra, Maitland, Cessnock, Singleton, Queanbeyan, Tamworth and others. I even worked in an on-site optical laboratory in Oxford in the UK for six months, edging and fitting lenses all day! I've done locum clinics in remote Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory, many hours drive out of Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Katherine or Darwin, as well as work in NSW at places like Armidale, Casino, Cowra, Cooma, Dubbo, Gilgandra, Glen Innes, Inverell, Orange, Narromine and Tenterfield. So for the next chapter in my career I'm really just continuing with more of something I'm already familiar with from the past.
To relax when not at work, I enjoy helping out at my local surf life saving club at Merewether in Newcastle, keeping fit with swimming & gym, playing electric bass guitar, motorcycle riding, and of course spending time with family.
